The Best Breakfast Spot In New Orleans Eats New Orleans Restaurant Review

Friday, December 16th, 2016

There have been some great places to eat in New Orleans over the years but during this last trip the food wasn’t as good. While dining at one of restaurants we asked one of the managers about the lack of flavor and she admitted that many of the top restaurants have reduced that amount of seasoning in their food to accommodate the palette mid-westerns who couldn’t handle the strong flavors. Well Eats New Orleans didn’t get the memo because their food is like old school New Orleans cuisine. Its all just a little different and bursting with flavor. The restaurant was cozy with a modern feel. The chef offered its standard menu but also had seasonal specials that offered a little more interest and fun for the traveling foodie.
If you are in New Orleans or heading there and want real NOLA flavors give them a try.

A New Orleans Breakfast Spot Should You Eat At Jimmy J’s Cafe A Review

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

If you are in New Orleans and want a breakfast with New Orleans’ flair Jimmy J’s Cafe is a breakfast spot with an interesting menu and fun daily specials that can get you in and eating quickly unlike many of the New Orleans breakfast hotspots. Some of the other places we visited had waits as long as 1 1/2 hours. I am not willing to wait that long for anything other than a Disneyland ride. When you have waits that long its time to start taking reservations. Jimmy J’s on the other hand got us in and seated in less than 10 minutes and eating in less than 20.

Watch Me Get Drunk For Science And Review The Drinkmate Breathalyzer

Monday, October 24th, 2016

Drinkmate was kind enough to send me an iPhone version of their breathalyzer and so I am getting drunk to to show you how it works. I also talk about the good and the bad of the device and there is a lot to like about it.
A recent was for a beer growler so I feel like it is the responsible thing to show you a device that will help you drink more responsibly. With the Drinkmate Breathalyzer you can always be aware of your Blood Alcohol Content.
Good: Drinkmate comes with a carrying case so you can take it with you everywhere and you are never without a Breathalyzer.
Good: You don’t have to touch the Drinkmate to your lips for it to work which is a huge advantage over other Breathalyzers because you don’t carry mouthpieces and not needing a mouthpiece makes using the Drinkmate Breathalyzer a very social experience because you can share with your friends and family without having to worry about anyone giving or getting cooties from the Drinkmate.
Good: No batteries needed. I can not stress how big of a deal this is. It seems everything nowadays requires batteries and has there own proprietary charger so not having to worry about batteries means the Drinkmate is ready to go all of time.
Good: The Drinkmate is inexpensive. They found a way to price this at $34.99 and one of the reasons I haven’t bought a personal breathalyzer before is because the good ones have been priced at $99 and up. Drinkmate makes owning a quality accurate breathalyzer affordable for everyone.
Bad: The only downside is the Drinkmate has both iOS and Android versions but you have to choose which model you want at time of purchase. I would really like it if they could design the device to work with both iOS and Android or provide adaptors so you can use the same breathalyzer with different mobile devices. I have both an iPhone and an Android phone and I don’t want to have to purchase a separate device for each phone and more importantly I don’t want to have to think about which version of the Drinkmate I have on me and then remember to take the corresponding phone with me. It would be great if the lightening connector was reversible with a either a USB C or Micro USB connector on the other side.
According to the Cleveland Clinic for someone who weighs 210 pounds, which I do, would have to drink nine alcoholic drinks within a one hour period to reach or exceed the legal limit which in the US is .08 I’m going to see if the Drinkmate breathalyzer shows me above or below that with that amount of drinks in one hour. Wish me luck.

The Best Product Ever Made IMO: The Hydro Flask 64oz Beer Growler

Friday, October 7th, 2016

Good: The Hydro Flask 64oz beer growler is double insulated so it keeps your beer cold for long periods of time without the need for ice or refrigeration.

Good: The Hydro Flask Beer Growler has a large mouth opening so its easy to fill the growler and easy to pour.

Good: The Growler has a nice powder coating which allows for a nice grippy feel but more important to me is it seems to keep the growler from getting hot to the touch. This is really vital especially if you plan on taking this with on a hike or out to a picnic.

Let’s talk about what the Hydro Flask Beer Growler does well and thats keep your beer cold for extended periods of time. To test this out I filled the growler with beer measured the temperature of the beer and then went for a 5.9 mile walk and again tested the temperature when I finished the walk. The growler only gained about two degrees of temperature from the walk.

Bottomline: This is an absolutely fantastic product. I have to admit before owning a Hydro Flask I would have never though I would pay $64.95 for a beer growler now I think this thing is well worth it. This is by far my favorite product I have ever reviewed and cannot recommend it strongly enough.

Sonny’s BBQ In Maryland

Monday, July 13th, 2015

Today we visit one of the best BBQ spots in Maryland. Sonny’s BBQ Pit is what you would think of an old school BBQ spot. It’s small it looks like a hole in the wall and their food is great. Sonny’s BBQ pit is in Mechanicsville, MD which a little ways out from any major cities but it is only like 20 minutes from some local wineries like the Running Hare Vineyard so you could stop grab some BBQ and then go do a tasting and have a BBQ picnic with a perfectly paired bottle of wine. Whatever you reason for making it out there if you find you are near Mechanicsville, MD check out Sonny’s BBQ they definitely have good stuff for your tummy.
