Belyew Couple In Washington D.C. Fighting For Justice

Tuesday, August 25th, 2015

Today while over near the Library of Congress I struck a conversation with a man and his wife. They claimed she had been sexually assaulted by law enforcement and have been trying to get justice ever since. They drove from California to DC hoping to speak with their senator, congressperson or the F.B.I. about their case. If you are interested in learning more about them you can find them at www.belyew.wordpress.com or here on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/wwwbelye…

Shure MV88 Stereo Condenser Microphone Review

Sunday, August 23rd, 2015

Today we take a look and listen to the Shure MV88 Stereo Condenser Microphone. This brand new microphone is a solid audio solution for those who use their iPhones for audio and or video capture. The audio from intro and outro was recorded with a Rode Smartlav v.1 plugged directly into a GH4 and the rest of the audio was recorded with the Shure MV88 microphone.

I had the mic set to mono and the pickup pattern set to 60 degrees. The preset was set to speech which boosted the gain to +33db. There was also a very loud air conditioning unit running right behind me so if you hear a constant sound thats it. I looked through the Motiv app hoping to find a high pass filter thinking it would help reduce some of air conditioner noise but unfortunately the app does not offer one right now. Hopefully with a firmware update we can get that feature. I would also like to have the ability to output the audio file as a MP3. Right now you can output as an Apple AAC or a WAV file. All in all I really like the microphone its a nice piece of gear and I plan to add to my kit. The mic retails for $149 so its not expensive but its not cheap either but from what I have experienced thus far its well worth the money.

I tested the MV88 with the settings that came straight out of the box I plan to do another review with various settings.
