I wanted to see if I really could edit an episode of my blog with only my iPad so I grabbed my little Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 and headed to Chinatown in New York City and checked out a candy store. I then edited the video with iMovie and here is the result. It is actually pretty good. I am used to a pro editor so I miss some of the features like multitrack editing and color grading but for editing a piece on the go the iPad works just fine. Watch this video and see for yourself.

Today we go to Great Falls in Maryland and check out the falls and some of the local birds. I have been to Great Falls before on the Virginia side but never before on the Maryland side. The Maryland side is so beautiful that if you have never been then I recommend it. There are two walking bridges that you have to cross before getting to the main falls but when you reach those bridges the falls underneath are even more beautiful than Great Falls itself. The platform at the end of the walk allows for a wonderful overview of the falls and a great place to watch the birds in the area fly low over the water or a little higher as they glide past you at eye level.

I recently bought a Panasonic GH2 primarily to shoot video and this is my first test using my new camera. I mostly used auto settings and the camera performed nicely. The only issue I had was trying to get the focus to perform the way I wanted it to. I have gotten used to shooting in manual focus on the 5D Mark II with a Zacuto Z-Finder so shooting through the tiny little viewfinder or looking at the LCD screen to try and achieve focus on the GH2 was challenging. All and all I like the camera. The quality is pretty amazing and the size is almost laughable it is so small. I only used the standard 14-42 kit lens and audio was straight from the camera except for the Narration which was recorded with a Zoom H4N.

Today we go and see where George and Martha Washington, my countries first President and First Lady, lived and worked when not at war or in Philadelphia serving as President. Mount Vernon Estate is a huge plantation right on the Potomac River and as big as the estate is today it is only a fraction of the size it used to be when George Washington lived there. I will show the Mansion, some of the outlying buildings, slave quarters, Washington’s personal coach and much much more. Here is video I shot while testing out my new Canon 5D mark II. The footage might come in and out of focus because I am still getting used to the camera and I recorded it with the on camera mic so the audio is raw. The teams in the competition are West Springfield High School, Annadale High School, T.C. Williams High School, W.T. Woodson High School, West Potomac High School, Lee High School, Lake Braddock High School, and South County Secondary. I did not film South County but captured the rest of the teams. I broke the video up into two parts because it was too long for YouTube as one long video. I hope you cheer fans enjoy it.

Today We Check Out My Canon 5D Mark II First Video With Dual Audio

This is my first video with my Canon 5D Mark II. I also shot it and used dual audio. The intro of the video I used a small clip-on mic connected to my Olympus LS-10 audio recorder and the outro was recorded with the same recorder but without the mic and I forgot to change the audio levels so it sounds pretty terrible but you can hear the differences. I synced the audio with a program called Pluraleyes. If you haven’t tried it google them and check it out it is pretty amazing. I am using the free version right now and will most likely get it when the trial version expires.
